We create both indoor and outdoor classroom environments that offer rich opportunities for exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.
During literacy sessions, our focus is on oral language development, providing a solid foundation through phonological awareness, and engaging play-based learning experiences. Students learn through games, storytelling, and imaginative play, which encourages them to use language in authentic ways as well as build social skills. Students explore nursery rhymes, repetitive stories and develop oral narrative skills through our evidence-based writing program, Talk for Writing. As students move to Pre-primary, they begin their reading journey through our structured synthetic phonics program, Sounds Write.
In Mathematics, we create hands-on, engaging, and interactive learning experiences where children explore mathematical concepts through play and real-world experiences. We encourage the development of number sense, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills using manipulatives and incorporating games. We provide opportunities for children to develop mathematical thinking in everyday situations, fostering curiosity, and making connections to the world around them.
At Halidon, we place a strong emphasis on social and emotional wellbeing, creating a nurturing space where children can form positive relationships and develop emotional regulation. Our GRROW values of Gratitude, Respect, Resilience, Ownership and Willingness guide our approach to fostering growth, kindness and a love of learning.
